May-July 2019 LN Licenses

This post is just going to be a rundown of the various LN licenses from the past few months. I’ll try to do better to keep up with the news from now on…
  • You Call That Service? — by Kisetsu Morita, with art by Hiroki Ozaki — — 7 volumes in Japan from GA Bunko so far — a “vampire romantic comedy” from the author of I’ve Been Killing Slimes
  • The Eminence in Shadow — by Daisuke Aizawa, with art by Touzai — — 3 volumes in Japan from Enterbrain so far — an isekai in which the chuuni protagonist leads a shadowy organization — physical release for this will be hardcover
  • Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future — by Jun Eishima — — a collection of short stories about various characters from the video game — it looks like Square Enix will begin publishing manga and novels in English under their own label
from Cross Infinite World in June and July
  • Kingdom Hearts X — by Tomoco Kanemaki, Kazushige Nojima, and Tetsuya Nomura, with art by Shiro Amano — another entry for the video game tie-in novels
  • I’m a “Behemoth,” an S-Ranked Monster, But Mistaken for a Cat, I Live As an Elf Girl’s Pet — by Nozomi Ginyoku, with art by Mitsuki Yano — — 2 volumes in Japan from GC Novels so far — a knight is reincarnated as a cat (actually a young “behemoth”)
  • Interspecies Reviewers: Ecstacy Days — by Tetsu Habara, with art by W18 — — 1 volume in Japan from Kadokawa Shoten so far — this is a side novel for a “monster girl” manga series that Yen Press is releasing in English
  • Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina — by Jogi Shiraishi, with art by Azul — — 10 volumes in Japan from GA Novel so far — stories about a traveling witch that people like to compare to Kino’s Journey
  • The Penetrated Battlefield Should Disappear There – Bullet Witchcraft & Ghost Program — by Kei Uekawa, with art by TEDDY – — 2 volumes in Japan from Fujimi Fantasia Bunko so far — a new series about a war with magical weapons
  • Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai — by Hajime Kamoshida, with art by Keeji Mizoguchi — — 9 volumes in Japan from Dengeki Bunko so far — same author and illustrator duo as The Pet Girl of Sakurasou — this series recently had a popular anime adaptation
  • Bloom into You – On Sayaka Saeki — by Hitoma Iruma, with art by Nio Nakatani — — 2 volumes in Japan from Dengeki Bunko so far — novels that tie into the Bloom into You yuri romance manga series by Nio Nakatani — this series recently had a popular anime adaptation
  • At Night, I Become a Monster — a novel by Yoru Sumino — — this is by the author of I Want to Eat Your Pancreas (also released in English by Seven Seas)
  • There Was No Secret Evil-Fighting Organization (srsly?!), So I Made One MYSELF! — by Hagane Kurodome, with art by Katto — — 2 volumes in Japan from Overlap Bunko so far — an urban fantasy comedy — already releasing
  • Otherside Picnic: Their Strange Exploration Files — by Iori Miyazawa, with art by shirakaba — — 3 volumes in Japan from Hayakawa Bunko JA so far — same author as Side by Side Dreamers, another paranormal mystery + yuri series — already releasing
  • The Combat Baker and Automaton Waitress — by SOW, with art by Zaza — — 9 volumes in Japan from HJ Bunko so far — this series is now releasing in ebook formats in conjunction with Bookwalker, which already has volumes 1-9 available via their app
  • Sexiled: My Sexist Party Leader Kicked Me Out, So I Teamed Up With a Mythical Sorceress! — by Ameko Kaeruda, with art by Kazutomo Miya — — 2 volumes in Japan from Overlap Novels so far — a fantasy adventure + yuri series — already releasing
  • Holy Knight’s Dark Road (Seinaru Kishi no Ankokudou) — by Yusaku Sakaishi, with art by Heiro — — 1 volume in Japan from HJ Bunko so far — a new fantasy adventure about a paladin who becomes a “dark knight”
  • Demon Lord, Retry! — by Kurone Kanzaki, with art by Makoto Iino — — 3 volumes in Japan from M Novels (Futabasha) so far — an MMO video game isekai — already releasing
  • Altina the Sword Princess — by Yukiya Murasaki, with art by himesuz — — 14 volumes in Japan from Famitsu Bunko so far — a fantasy adventure about a tactician and a sword-wielding princess — same author as How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
  • Beatless — a sci-fi novel by Satoshi Hase, with art by redjuice — — this will release in conjunction with Tokyo Otaku Mode, which released a translation of part of the story online some years back
  • Also worth noting, there will be a Kickstarter to release physical omnibus copies of Invaders of the Rokujouma!?
  • Busy Wizard: This Warlock Just Wants to Provide for His Wives — AKA “Yami Zokusei no Mahoutsukaidaga, Naze ka Yuusha ni natte Shimatta” — a hentai fantasy harem LN series by Shihotate Sammaguro, with art by Misa Ikezaki
